Circulation Policies
General
The online catalog for the Nellis AFB Library
is integrated with the Las Vegas / Clark County Library District (LVCCLD)
on-line catalog system. Library resources at any other LVCCLD facility,
such as books, audio-books, music CDs, videos, etc., can be requested and
sent to the Base Library for your convenience. Ask the Circulation Desk
personnel for details. Eligibility requirements to use this facility are
found in Attachment 2, AFI34-262.
Library Cards
- Library cards may be issued to all active duty and retired military personnel,
their families, and government employees upon the presentation of an official
military or government identification card.
- Cards obtained at the Nellis AFB Library may be used at any of the public libraries in
Clark County, NV. Cards issued by other Clark County libraries to Nellis personnel may
likewise be used at the Nellis AFB Library.
- Sponsors/parents are responsible for their dependent children's use of the library
regardless of age, and must personally sign the registration form for all children under
thirteen years of age.
- All Base Library accounts MUST be cleared / settled to have the
library complete the USAF Virtual Out-Processing procedures.
Maximum Number of Items Allowed
- Fifty (50) items total.
- Seven (7) DVDs within the total of 50.
- This limit is for all borrowers regardless of the issuing library district's limit.
Loan Periods
- DVDs - one (1) week.
- All other items - three (3) weeks.
- Items loaned from public libraries may have different loan periods.
Renewals
- Items may be renewed at the library, online, or by telephone, provided the item
is not on hold for another patron.
- You may be asked to return items being requested by other patrons.
- Materials may be renewed twice before they have to be returned.
Overdue Charges
- Late fees are not assessed on Nellis AFB Library materials.
- Please note that other libraries in Clark County (i.e. LVCCLD) do charge fines for overdue items.
- Materials requested through our online catalog are provided to you based on the policies
of the lending library.
- If you have overdue materials from LVCCLD, Nellis AFB Library does not have the
authority to waive these fines.
- Overdue fines may be paid online or at any off-base public library in the library district of the lending library.
Delinquent Policy
- An account is considered delinquent and no further materials may be borrowed or
requested when a patron owes $10 or more in overdue fines or charges for lost materials.
This includes fines or charges at either LVCCLD or Nellis AFB.
North Las Vegas,
however, has a $2 limit.
- If you want/need to pay overdue fines or other charges assessed by LVCCLD, the library staff can
direct you to the nearest public library.
Lost and Damaged Materials belonging to the Nellis AFB Library
- Lost or severely damaged materials will be replaced with a new copy of the
lost material or a suitable substitute approved by our librarian. A standard fee will
be charged for lost periodicals.
Notices
- As a courtesy reminder, the library will mail an overdue notice listing all
materials not returned ten days after the due date.
- A second notice will be sent twenty days after the due date.
- The third and final notice is generated thirty days after the due date and is
a collection notice.
- If the material is not returned or the patron's account is not cleared, the
library will notify the patron's organization commander and take steps to secure
payment for the lost material.
